Cheerful yellows are beautiful on cabinetry, trim, and millwork. Hay and Sudbury Yellow, both by Farrow & Ball, are warm and sunny yellows that are rich in color, yet light in tone.


A rich, saturated yellow is a classic choice for historic homes, as deep gold and ochre are frequently seen on early Colonial exteriors. Georgian Yellow and Farmhouse Ochre by California Paints are historically accurate yellows for Colonial homes.



If a rich golden hue feels too risky, a soft buttery cream is an excellent way to infuse warmth and history without being overpowering. When contrasted against white, the yellow undertones shine.
