Inevitably, the more you submerse yourself into design, the more your style will evolve and mature. As I approach nearly 10 years of working in design, I can visibly see my own personal journey in design. It’s evolved since 2014 when I started this business. And it’s evolved since we bought our house back in 2016.
While I wouldn’t consider myself mature, design or otherwise, I think I have a good understanding of what that might look like someday…and what that will involve. With a maturity in design comes it’s own set of pros and cons. I can think of many for myself.
Pro: I can pinpoint specific elements that produce high design.
Con: I can pinpoint the lack of high design in my past work far more than ever before.
Pro: I know the high caliber of furniture and custom details that I want in my future designs.
Con: Those pieces are harder to find in retail and are more expensive than I’m used to.
Pro: My personal version of a matured style involves more one-of-a-kind pieces like artwork, furniture, rugs, and accessories.
Con: That requires far more time, research, and money to acquire one-of-a-kind treasures.
And while my style has been maturing inside, Chris’ style has been maturing outside. His love for landscaping is evident and he looks forward to the day when he can execute the visions he has in his head.
