Have you ever been to a dinner party or a wedding and been blown away by the beautiful table setting? I love a good place setting and I think it’s so fun to get creative and make something as simple as a plate look absolutely stunning. Some people go all out but after lots of Pinterest pinning and looking for inspiration, I realized my favorite place setting is one that is natural, minimal, and neutral with just a tiny splash of color!
I decided to create my own nature inspired place setting and if you’re curious how I put it together or where all the goodies came from…keep reading!
I love a layered look with bold contrast so if you want to create that layered look as well, I suggest starting with a charger plate. (P.S. I always get asked what a charger is and it’s the piece that goes underneath your plates but isn’t used for eating…aka that wood round you see above!) I wanted a round wood charger that resembled a stump to keep the natural theme. You could cut your own charger or use the one I found from Target! (Direct link below) There’s also a huge variety of chargers at Pier 1 that I love!
Then I added the dinner and salad plates. I love a classic white plate! They can be used year round and be as formal or informal as you’d like. Believe it or not, we found our favorite set from Ikea!
Next is the art of napkin folding! Again, I wanted to keep it simple so I simply rolled the napkin and tucked in the ends to keep a seamless look.
For the cloth napkins I actually made my own a couple years ago but any white linen napkin will be perfect for this look!
There are so many incredibly unique napkin rings out there but I chose some leather napkin rings that I made! I love the natural leather and the little button stud. It’s a simple design that adds that touch of character without being too overpowering. I also added a little greenery stem for a touch of color. In my opinion, adding a little greenery always completes the look.
All that’s left to add is the silverware and a glass. You can’t go wrong with a copper mug! Although these mugs are meant for moscow mules, I’ll find any excuse to use them for regular use too!
And that’s it! I love this natural table setting because it can be used for an elegant dinner party or just a casual hang out. It’s simple and easy on the budget too! So now that you’re dying to copy this look, below are all the sources for the products I used!

Ok, you’ve got the steps and the sources, now go create this look for your next dinner party! I’d love to hear how you make it your own!
