I remember trying a version of this DIY project about 6 years ago! I found a set of plates and wrote meaningful quotes on them for my mom for mother’s day. This time I’m making something for myself – ring dishes! I had a panic attack a few months ago because I thought I lost my wedding ring for good only to realize it fell on the floor and somehow made its way under the bed.
I can’t afford to let this mistake happen twice so I got myself a few small bowls to use as ring dishes and I painted them with fun designs. It’s a super easy (and therapeutic) activity that you’re going to want to try for yourself!
Pick your paint colors, grab your brushes, and start painting your bowls. Be sure you’re using paint that is specifically designed for ceramics like glass paint. I painted stripes, dots, and splatters but you can literally paint whatever your heart desires! If you need to paint multiple coats, wait until the first coat is completely dry before applying the second coat.
Once you’re finished painting, wait 24 hours to let the paint dry completely.
STEP 2 – BAKE THE BOWLS
In order to cure the paint and make it permanent, you’ll need to bake your bowls. Before turning the oven on, put your bowls on a baking sheet and place them in the oven. Turn the oven on to 176° and bake for 2 hours. Once the time is up, turn the oven off and leave the bowls in the oven until the oven cools down. Once cool, remove the bowls and your done!
So easy right!? I think this could be such a fun activity to do with your friends or even your kids! And how perfect would these be as stocking stuffers for Christmas!?
For real though, I found this project to be very peaceful and therapeutic and now I want to paint 1,000 more! If you try this project, take a picture and tag me on Instagram @nadine_stay to show off your skills!
Like it!! Looks fun and easy!!
