I’ve done many room moodboards, but this one….this one was fun! A challenge for me because I’m not typically a color person, but I couldn’t design a girls room without color! My goal with this room makeover was to create an elevated, yet whimsical girls room that could age with your child as she grows up. And of course, I kept it budget friendly!
PHASE 1 – START WITH THE BEDDING
Let’s start with the focal point of the room – the bed! I love an arched headboard for a girls room and this velvet blue headboard feels like a princess bed without looking too themey. This pale pink floral comforter pairs so beautifully with the headboard and I love the pattern on it! I played around with pillow combinations for a long time and I fell in love with the blue on blue moment between the quilted sham and the headboard. A frilly beige pillow in front and of course, the cutest stuffy there is!
All this for under $350 is actually such a great start to the makeover!

PHASE 2 – ADD THE RUG & FURNITURE
I actually picked out this rug first and used the colors within the rug as my color palette for the room. The golden yellow is the primary color, but there are specks of blue, pale pink, a hint of fuscia, and some beige. The headboard pulls out the blues in the rug, the pale pink comforter matches the pale pink in the rug, and even the stuffy pairs with the fuscia in the rug.
The room needs a bit of warmth so I chose a wood nightstand with drawers. It’s such a great price point! Of course, where is she going to read her books? In the comfiest linen beanbag chair!

PHASE 3 – FINISH WITH DECOR
If I would’ve had a hanging canopy in my bedroom as a kid, I wouldn’t spend 98.9% of my time in there! The dusty pink color is such a beautiful shade that works for any age! You could hang it over the bed or you could tuck it in the corner and put the beanbag chair inside of it! Either would be adorable!
I’m so drawn to the swan art and how perfect does it go with the rug!? Every kids room needs a spot for toys and how cute is this house bookshelf!? Great for toys and books! Add a lamp, a cute picture frame for the nightstand, and some toys and baskets for the playhouse and I’d call this room done! It’s perfectly whimsical!
