Ok so we still have to scrape and paint our porch floor, refinish the door, and repaint our siding (this is happening TODAY actually), but I CAN check porch pots off my list! I think I’ve found a new obsession – pots and planters!
I’ve had a vision of our front porch for months – two comfy chairs, a soft glowing lantern on the wall, a beautiful window pane front door, a custom built spindle railing, and a little collection of pots and plants in the corner. I was sure we would’ve had it all finished a month ago but life took longer than usual this summer…picking a paint color wins first prize for slowing us down the most.
So this weekend/upcoming week is dedicated to finishing the exterior and oddly enough I’m most excited to see how my aged pots and evergreen tree will look against our new paint color. Can I tell you about my pots and plant?
I first found this oversized ivory fishbowl pot several weeks ago and it’s the perfect BIG pot for a tall plant. But I couldn’t find a large enough plant that I loved so I opted to save the pot for our backyard instead. I did however find the perfect small evergreen tree which required 4 trips to 4 different nurseries. I wanted something that resembled a tree but will hold its leaves and stay green throughout the winter. (And ideally I didn’t want it to look like a Christmas tree.) I’ll be the first to admit that my standards were set waaay too high! 🙂
The Inkberry Shamrock plant is what we landed on and I have a feeling we’ll be buying more of these for our landscaping next spring.
After finding the right plant I stumbled upon not 1, but 2 smaller pots that fill in our little porch corner perfectly. The ivory pot (the one with the plant) is such a good find from Home Depot and the smaller aged pot with the rim is the most beautiful planter from the Studio McGee x Threshold line at Target.
It’s all gonna look SO good with our new paint color which you can see a peek of on Instagram if you hurry quick! (Hint: we’re going dark again.)
Of course, while I was on the hunt for the perfect pot(s) I found several other worthy contenders. If you’re in the market to spruce up your curb appeal for the holidays, these pots will do just that!
