I’ve been keeping a secret – we went to Maine in May for a month! We had this trip planned for over 6 months and we just got back. For safety reasons, I opted not to share our trip while we were gone, but it was so incredible! We drove three days to mid coast Maine where we (Teddy came too!) stayed in a quaint cape cod home tucked in a fairy tale world of pine trees, just 2 miles from the coast. It was picturesque.
We worked from “home” Monday-Thursday and we explored every evening and weekend. Chris had a full list of scenic views, lighthouses, restaurants, and shops that we wanted to visit and somehow, even with a full month of time, we still have places unchecked.
On the top of Bald Mountain overlooking (literally) countless islands scattered throughout the ocean.
We took a day trip (via a tiny ferry) to Monhegan Island. To say this trip was memorable is an understatement. There was a storm the night before our ferry ride and the ocean was unkind on the 70 minute boat ride over. The whole crew warned us that this boat ride would be brutal but we were too arrogant to chicken out. Needless to say, the waves towered over the boat…many were higher than our boat windows allowed us to see and the boat rocked in every possible direction. Chris was sweating more than I’ve ever seen him sweat, doing everything in his power not to throw up. And I spent 20 minutes in the bathroom squatting over the toilet throwing up…gripping onto the toilet paper holder as I rocked like a rag doll. It was….memorable and we laugh about it now!
But as soon as we got on solid ground and overlooked the rocky coastline, it was obvious that the trip was worth it. Chris and I sat on top of this hill for an hour and took in the view that looked more like a picturesque puzzle than real life. We played I spy and I’ll never forget this moment. The ferry ride back you ask? The ocean settled just before we headed back and it was smooth sailing…thank God!

I was glued to the screen watching this interior design Q+A with a professional designer. So many good tips and pieces of advice! Like how to mix lighting in an open floor plan. Are light wood floors here to stay? What’s a good exterior paint color for brick homes? Give it a watch.
Have you seen the new blanket collection that Tartan Blanket Co launched with Banjo Beale? The traditional plaid patterns paired with tertiary summer colors is so refreshing! I got this one!
Who remembers playing the board game Sorry as a kid!? Our home in Maine had this game and Chris and I became obsessed with it! Heated competitions and “World Championship Tournaments” happened almost nightly. Needless to say, this game is just as good at 30 as it was at 12 and I fully plan on dominating anyone who dares to compete against me.
AromaTech sent me their AroMini BT scent diffuser and holy cow does Love Affair smell good. The whole main floor smells like a dream.
We’re planning a porch project for later this summer (can’t wait to share details!) and one piece of that project will involve ripping out our existing path and replacing it with flagstone! This photo is my inspiration.
I recently heard about Rosalie Gwen Paperie and was so drawn to her artistic style. Her flower paintings are so beautifully unique. I got this Garden Rose print and it’s begging for a spot in our antique hutch.
