The other day Chris and I were in the car driving and I mentioned to him that I’m always surprised when people trust me enough to ask me questions about design. Truthfully, I still feel like I’m the student. It’s my human nature to assume that I don’t have enough experience or that I don’t know enough to offer advice, but I’m training myself to believe that the information I have is worth sharing. There will always be someone who knows more than me and if I don’t believe in myself until I’m at the top….well I’d never be able to have this business or help others. So thank you for coming to me for advice and please keep the questions coming! It’s my main driving force to keep learning and educating myself.
I enjoy observing design experts regularly, but for some reason it feels like my brain opened for business this past month because I keep hearing and learning about new things! I keep finding myself staring at a single photo of a room for 10+ minutes dissecting every little thing from textures, grout colors, and light placement to furniture layouts and finishes. Sometimes that’s all it takes to learn – simply staring at a photo to figure out what you like and why you like it.
Jean Stoffer has been a major inspiration to me lately and I keep finding myself browsing through her projects to see what catches my eye next. If you want “modern traditional” home inspiration, follow Jean’s instagram account here!
Other notable things worth mentioning –
Loloi Rugs gifted me their Hathaway rug in the “steel/ivory” color and it’s such a beauty! It’s my first Persian inspired rug and I love that it’s bringing a touch of traditional design to my home. I also purchased this 1/4” thick rug pad and I love the cushion it adds! (FYI the rug appears beige on their product page but it reads blue and pale blue in real life. My photo above is a good representation of actual color.)
Most of my cravings revolve around ice cream and this chocolate peanut butter cup ice cream by Edy’s is the best I’ve ever had! Can’t stop, won’t stop!
Life Lines sent me the sweetest minimal style illustration of Chris and I and I finally had a chance to frame it! Love it! How cute would these drawings be in a baby room or playroom!?
Of all the pleated shades I’m loving right now, knife pleated shades are at the top of my list! They’re somewhat difficult to find and in the past I’ve had the best luck finding them at thrift stores. But I did recently discover this Etsy shop that sells knife pleated shades in a variety of colors and sizes!
Last Christmas I shared this eyelash serum that I bought for myself and I wanted to give an update. I have used it for just over 4 months and it has quite literally doubled the length of my natural lashes! Not trying to pitch a sale to you…just giving you the facts! Love love love this product!
I bought myself 3 ticking stripe pillow covers because our old pillows are hella old! Love love love the brown stripes on the cream fabric! I keep moving them from room to room because I can’t decide where I want them to live!
