You know when you’re looking for a new vehicle and as soon as you buy one, you start seeing your same vehicle everywhere!? That’s happening to me right now…but with decorative plates and plate racks! Marianne Brown of W Design Collective shared that decorative plates and plate racks are making a comeback and as soon as I read that, I’ve been noticing them everywhere!
Designers have started incorporating plate racks (the kind with dowels so you can stack all your plates on end) into kitchens again and while I know very little about our future kitchen design plan, I know I want to include a plate rack to store our everyday plates! Most are custom built into the cabinetry, but I’ve seen a few antique cabinet/rack combinations online too!
But plate racks aren’t the only thing making a comeback! With the rise of cottage core design, decorative chinaware is making its way back into homes too. I personally love a mismatched collection that is collected over time. New, vintage, inherited, or collected…I love chinaware! Some designers are displaying plates on the wall in a row of three above a hutch, next to a doorway, or above a window. Other times I’m seeing plates stacked in a hutch with with just one or two plates sitting up on end.
Wayfair has a large collection of beautiful porcelain china plates that are either hand painted or have a transferware design. This khaki green plate is my personal favorite with a scalloped edge and a delicate floral pattern. It just so happens to be microwave safe and scratch resistant too! You can also find Juliska seasonal plates on Wayfair which are the most precious things! You need to see their fall, winter, Christmas, and summer plate sets! I gathered links to a few decorative plates that I love from Wayfair to help jump start your collection! Don’t forget, you get free shipping on orders over $35! Shop my favorite plates below –
