I love houses that know what they are! This is a very informative article, and I hope that you continue to write about things that give a historical context to what we see in housing styles today.

This is so specific! Still, I’m glad many of them still exist regionally as the saltbox and cape cods have been great examples for me to look to as I work towards cohesion in my Missouri Ozarks 1920’s-50’s-70’s house. It was doubled in size with a big wedge shaped 2 story addition on the back in the 70s and covered in cedar shingles… the massing, materials, and forms are similar to the abovementioned styles and some of the 70s styling/quality wood inside is reminiscent of Craftsman era work, so we are pushing things in those directions as we fix it up.

This is so fascinating!!! I love the way you’ve brought all these architectural details together. I really hope you do more of these, especially exploring different cities and regions across Europe. There’s so much to discover!

Grab a snack, kick your feet up, and go down the rabbit hole.
