Why I Love Dried Florals & A Roundup of My Favorites

Last week spring teased us with 70 degree temperatures and if there’s anything that can lift my mood and motivation…it’s a warm week in the middle of winter. There is nothing better than opening the windows on a warm day to let the fresh air in after a long winter, tidying up the house, and re-arranging for a new season. Ironically enough it snowed shortly after…but I digress.

Spring temperatures always spur on an urge for spring florals in the house and while I still have a few faux florals around the house, I’ve been slowly adding in dried flowers! How it took me so long to get on the dried stems train is beyond me. They have all the benefits of faux florals: they last. And all the benefits of real stems: they look real…cause they are real!

So ya, I ordered 10 bundles of dried florals with a springy, colorful palette on a whim…blame it on the 24 hours of warmth!

I’ve loved Afloral and Bloomist for a while, but this was my first time ordering from them. They didn’t disappoint! I was also surprised how many shops on Etsy sell dried florals too. I’ve also gone to Home Goods and if you go at the right time, you can find a bunch there for less than $15 a bundle.

The thing about ordering online is I never know how full one bundle really is. It’s a guessing game if one bundle will fill the vase plenty or if it’ll look sparse. I usually prefer the look of a full vase so I played it safe and ordered multiple bundles of each. But to help give you an idea of how many to order, I listed how many bundles I used under each photo above.

When it comes to spring florals, I’m drawn to whimsical romantic stems. Dainty flower and buds in rosy pastel colors billowing over a vintage vase. They ring in the spring season, but they’re not too precious for summer too. Bouquets are beautiful, but I love a simple look with just one type of stem per vase. It feels natural…like it was plucked from a field and plopped in a vase as is.
