Back in March I purged almost all of our living room furniture/decor because I decided I was only going to keep the things that I loved…turned out there was a lot I was just holding onto simply because it filled the space. I got really excited about the idea of a quick living room refresh and I purchased a new sofa to kick things off….but if you’ve been following along you know we got side tracked with our bedroom renovation instead.
Fast forward to today and our bedroom is SO CLOSE to done, but we’re on pause momentarily until I find/refurbish a dresser for the room…so I gave myself one day to rework the living room a little.

Aside from rearranging the furniture (Been doing that a lot this year), the main thing I needed…ok wanted…was new chairs. Something that felt timeless and cabin appropriate. A simple fabric that worked with anything and a shape that didn’t feel heavy…aka the seat needed to be off the ground with open legs. (Big bulky furniture would just crowd our small living room.)
I searched through Walmart Home’s products and I found THE chairs….and some pillows and throws too. 🙂 They’re perfect! The ivory fabric serves as a perfect base layer and it matches our sofa fabric so well. (BTW I have an idea for these chairs that I’ll share soon!) The muted olive green pillows with vertical stripes compliment the room perfectly (note: I added my own feather pillow inserts for that extra fluffy look). And a plaid blanket to drape over the arm is a perfect start to decorating our living room again.
As for the rest of the room….well I’m still on a never ending hunt for the perfect antique coffee table.
You can find so many beautiful pieces at Walmart! In fact, I pulled together a few more Walmart Home favorites that have that California casual, luxe but relaxed look. I want #7 for my matches, I bought #6 too, and #3 would be sooo cute if you have open shelving in your kitchen.
Organic Matelasse Blanket – I think the key to making a beautiful bed that also feels warm and comfortable is with layers of blankets. This one is made of organic cotton and has the most beautiful subtle stitching.
Delta 3-Drawer Dresser – *Designer Tip* Use three drawer dressers as nightstands for a luxe look and lots of storage! The inset drawers with slim shaker drawer fronts are so. dang. pretty.
Woven Rattan Water Cup Holder – I’m obsessed…legitimately obsessed! Pair the rattan holder with your own glassware. If you have open shelving in your kitchen, these are winners!
Devin Solid Round Pedestal Coffee Table – So pretty and with dark wood making such a comeback, I could see this coffee table working with so many styles.
Decorative Throw Pillow with Fringe – A heathered beige pillow with the cutest fringe on all sides.
Tartan Plaid Turkish Throw Blanket – I added this blanket to my cart the second I saw it! That little pop of red is such an unexpected pretty detail.
Glass Apothecary Jar – Glass jars with lids are my favorite organization hack for countertops, shelves, or coffee tables. I’m picturing Q-tips, candy, dog treats, or even matches in this apothecary jar.
Franco Sloping Chair – How cute would these chairs be in a sunroom!?
Corduroy Striped Square Decorative Throw Pillow – The softest pillows I purchased for our living room that you won’t stop touching.
Abott Stoneware 16 Piece Dinnerware Set – Dinners with this set would feel so effortlessly styled. Love the subtle speckle!
DII Plaid Cotton Woven Throw – Such an unexpectedly pretty color palette that is absolutely cabin appropriate!
Ivory Accent Chair – Got em. Love em. So versatile too!
Meditate Candle – This wouldn’t be the first candle I’ve purchased from Walmart and it won’t be my last!
Natural Fiber Levi Braided Area Rug – Jute rugs are such a staple and this comes in a few color options too!
P.S. word is Walmart just added a fun new selection of impulse purchase products that are constantly changing so if you like a good hunt, check out their Wow & Now collection.

I cannot tell you how much I appreciate that you provide affordable options that you use in your home as well as other great looking budget friendly options. So often I see blogs in which the blogger suggests that their $300 lamp is budget friendly when in reality most people cannot even imagine being able to spend that on an accessory. Most of the world is living on very tight budgets, so I am so grateful to for sharing affordable options for the most of us that live on a real budget. You are wonderful!
Thanks Julie! I’m so glad you’re finding this helpful! 🙂
