Our primary has a converted sun porch as part of the bedroom space and I am at a loss. The white door behind the dresser leads out to the roof (which will soon have a deck). The brown door leads to a storage room.

What a charming and unique little space off the bedroom! You can definitely have some fun with this space. If this were my home, here’s what I would do –
Assuming you have space in your bedroom to move the dresser elsewhere, I’d focus on making this room not feel like an extension of your bedroom. Having typical bedroom furniture in this room could make your whole primary bedroom feel like it has a weird layout. But if you turn this into a sitting room, it will feel like a special bonus room off the bedroom.
I like the idea of having arm chairs in this room. Two side by side with a round side table in between and a little footrest if space allows. I imagine space isn’t abundant where the two doors are so if you can scoot the chairs in just enough to allow the door (to the roof) to open that’d be perfect! If you don’t go into the storage room off this space frequently, I wouldn’t worry about the chair being close to that door. You can always move the chair to access the storage room when necessary.
Since it’s a sunroom, let’s make it bright and cheery! I would choose either a neutral white or a warm white paint color for the walls, trim, and doors. The wood ceiling is perfect as is! I wouldn’t touch it! If the budget allows, swap the doors for something with a profile and paint those white too.
As for window treatments, it’s a little tricky since the windows are at different heights. You may find that you’ll need to play around with a few options to find the right one. Linen curtains hung with back tab or pleated hooks would elevate the space. Linen shades would lean into the casual sunroom feeling while still providing privacy. And of course, you could try no window treatments if privacy isn’t an issue. Test out your options! I think you’ll discover quickly what does and doesn’t work.
With all that said, this room doesn’t need a ton of embellishments. The view of the outdoors is what you’ll be looking at anyways!
As usual, you’re spot on! This room will be even lovelier with your suggestions. I would like to add that perhaps the curtain rods could be all hung at the same level, regardless of window height, in order to make the room look more uniform. What do you think?

Totally agree! Good suggestion 🙂
