I’m a big advocate of investing in things that have long term benefits. If it saves you time, if it saves you money, if it saves you stress…it’s worth it.
Chris, Teddy (our dog), and I are home all day. We work from home during the day and we work on our home in the evening. Our house just gets dirty that much faster. Dishes pile up, crumbs fall on the ground, and pet hair…oh the pet hair.
I can deal with the dishes, I can muster up the courage to wipe down our countertops, but the floors have always felt like a losing battle. At one point I decided to sweep the floors every evening while Chris made dinner and it was glorious for the week that it lasted. But forming a habit with a very inconsistent daily schedule is hard to maintain.
Fast forward to November of last year and we had enough with the dirty floors. We researched robot vacuums, landed on this model, and bought it on the spot.
We love it! We run it every day at 10 am and we’re constantly surprised by how much it picks up! The hardwoods are clean, the dog hair isn’t multiplying, the rugs feel clean for the first time since we bought them, and all the collection zones (under the bed/dressers/chairs, along the toe kicks, and every corner of the house) are taken care of too. It goes through the whole house (except for our office because there’s a step up) and it’s done in about an hour and 10 minutes on the dot. We love it and we’ll never go without one again!
But what’s most interesting is that I didn’t realize how much stress we both subconsciously carried from having dirty floors every day. Once we started running the vacuum every day, we couldn’t stop talking about how good we felt! It’s just one less thing to think about. Who knew a little robot vacuum could remove a piece of stress and replace it with relief.
There are a lot of brands out there that make robot vacuums and Walmart carries all the big name brands along with a few I hadn’t heard of before! In fact, Walmart is doing a winter sale and marked nearly all their robot vacuums on sale from 30%-48% off!
I rounded up a handful from the 4 most popular brands, all with excellent reviews, ranging from $129 to $950. This is where narrowing down your needs will help narrow down the best brand for you. Do you need a vacuum that self empties after it’s done? Do you need one specifically geared towards pets? What about battery life? Do you want a mopping vacuum too?
Keep in mind that I didn’t show every model from every brand here. There’s too many for one post, but if you want to see more brands and models (with more bells and whistles) check out Walmart’s floor care page.
Eufy is a tried and true brand that offers budget friendly price points. Roomba is what most people think of when you say robot vacuum and they offer a ton of models so you can pick the right one for your home. I’ve heard great things about the Shark brand and their reviews prove that. And while I had never heard of Roborock, it appears to be the luxury brand with ALL the bells and whistles.
A FEW TIPS WE LEARNED FROM OUR RESEARCH:
IF YOU HAVE PETS: Look for a vacuum with rubber roller brushes so pet hair doesn’t get tangled.
IF YOU HAVE A LARGE HOUSE: Battery life will play a role. Look for a vacuum that has a long battery life AND/OR will recharge mid session and resume when fully charged.
DO YOU WANT TO TAKE CARE OF MOPPING TOO? Some brands offer “2-in-1 vacuum and mop” models while others have a separate unit.
WORRIED ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT IT’LL GET EVERY INCH OF YOUR HOME?: Look for a vacuum with WIFI connectivity that tracks where it’s been and where it needs to go.
THINK ABOUT THE HEIGHT OF THE VACUUM TOO: If most of your furniture sits 3 inches off the floor, a 4 inch tall vacuum may not be the most practical for your home.
Jump on this Walmart sale while it lasts…it won’t be long!
