Hi,I am struggling with what size rug to put in our front living room. It’s a 12×10 ft space that is adjacent to our front door- so open to the hallway. We would like to buy a couch that is 92” wide x40” deep, and two small chairs opposite. I have thought about floating a cow hide type rug that’s approx 6×7 ft, or an 8 ft x8 ft square rug (though these are not easy to find in something in my style- modern) . What would you recommend for that size space?

Hi Katie,I have a large rug that I would like to resize for our master bedroom – with king bed. Can you recommend a runner size and a rug in front of bed? The rug we are cutting is 10′ 3" x 10′ 6”.Thanks!! – Karen
So I have a 9 x 12 rug, but it’s still too small for all of the furniture in my living room to even get the front legs on it. Should I just make sure it’s centered with the couch? Or leave it in the middle of the room touching nothing?
Hi Katie! There’s a couple things you could try – if it doesn’t feel too tight, try scooting your furniture closer together to get all the front feet of your seating on the rug. You could also just make sure the front couch feet are on the rug and everything else is close. Otherwise if you’re in the market for a new rug I’d suggest looking for sizes 11’x14’ or larger.
