A gathered bed skirt (shown above) is a classic feature of cottage & English-inspired bedrooms. The rippled fabric naturally exudes charm, regardless of the pattern or color. On the other hand, tailored and box pleated bed skirts (shown below) have clean, flat panels with crisp lines that are more structured and polished.
Neither is inherently better, but they do offer very different aesthetics. If you’re aiming for a relaxed feel, gathered bed skirts will complement that look. If you’re striving for a polished, clean feel, a tailored bed skirt will help you achieve that.
