These 10 trends are taking over the design world right now!!

Marble has never really been out of style but it is especially popular right now! We’re seeing it EVERYWHERE as countertops, bathroom tile, flooring, decorations, and even iPhone cases. It’s a bit on the pricey side and it requires some maintenance but the subtle veining is all the rage right now!

I’m sure you’ve already noticed that neutrals are in! Soft whites, buttery leathers, and pops of greenery are in every Mid Century Modern home. White paint is flying off the shelves and greenhouses are getting lots of business. If you’ve seen any photos of our own home then you know we’re totally on board with this style and the minimalism that comes with it.

If you search for “hex tile” on Pinterest you’re going to get so much inspiration! These hexagon tiles have been around for ages but they got new life and gained some popularity when black hex tiles came out. They’re most commonly seen on bathroom floors and walls but we also see them in mudrooms too!

This trend is so subtle that I don’t even think people realize it’s a trend. If you pay close attention you’ll notice that unique ceramic vases are filling retail shelves. We’re replacing our mason jars and standard glass vases with handmade pottery making flowers and greenery stems more appealing to showcase. I love a subtle trend like this!

Wait! Didn’t we just replace wood cabinets with white cabinets?? Yep, and now wood cabinetry is back…but in a different way. Before we saw wood cabinet doors with detailed lines and exposed frames but now it’s all about simplicity. Wood doors with flat fronts and fewer lines are a popular choice these days. Don’t worry, white cabinets are still popular and beautiful, but wood is having a comeback in a fresh way!

Speaking of kitchens, have you noticed that upper cabinets are not seen nearly as much as they used to be? Often they’re replaced with open shelving, large windows, or beautiful tile. Fewer upper cabinets definitely makes the space feel bigger but if I’m being totally honest…I like having at least a few uppers. I need a place for dishes, glasses, and the 1,000 cereal boxes we somehow collect! If you like the open wall trend but still want the convenience of upper cabinets, I suggest finding a way to include a floor to ceiling cabinet. (Like in this image)

I love the glass shower door trend! It ties in beautifully with pretty much any design style and I love the minimal look. Keep in mind however that this is one of those trends that looks absolutely stunning but it requires a bit of maintenance! Water spots will show up quickly if you don’t clean it often. In my opinion, it’s worth it to up your cleaning game so that you get to have gorgeous glass shower doors!

Texture and tassels exploded in popularity in the textile department! Blankets, pillows, and rugs are where we see it the most. I love a good throw blanket with a few chunky tassels on the ends! And any pillow that has major texture is a win in my book!

Indoor plants were never really out of style but they’re definitely “in” right now! Of course the obvious fiddle leaf fig is one of the most popular plant options but I also love the snake plant, aloe vera, olive tree, and rubber tree.

This is a really unique way of incorporating greenery in your home without the commitment of watering. Etsy is filled with great leaf prints and I highly recommend finding one that is painted instead of printed. Hang 2-3 leaf prints and you’ve got yourself a pretty wall!
MY FINAL THOUGHTS ON TRENDS: Of course it’s easy to get wrapped up in trends and wish your home looked like all the other homes on Pinterest but trends are short lived ideas. I challenge you to use trends as a guide for creating your own unique ideas and always be careful of shelling out tons of cash on something that’s trendy. Don’t spend $1,000 on a tassel rug that is inevitably going to go out of style in 6 months. Create your own style that you love and incorporate trendy ideas in a way you’ve never seen before!
