In the past couple months I’ve noticed one particular item becoming more popular. And maybe I’m just slow to notice, but candle sconces have seemed to pop up more and more in people’s homes. I love it! Couldn’t be more thrilled with this.
Of all the decorative pieces in our bedroom project, I find myself most drawn to the vintage brass candle sconce next to Chris’ bedside table.
When I was searching for something for that corner, every other wall had art on it. An antique mirror and boat print that paired beautifully on our dresser, a pair of Lina Gordievsky graphite prints and of course the “Gathering” art I had printed on canvas months ago for above our bed. This little inset corner was the only spot left to fill.
Sometimes art on every wall can feel repetitive to me. Monotonous if you will, and I realized I needed something other than art. 2 minutes on Facebook marketplace searching for “brass candle sconce” brought me to the beauty above and it clicked for me! This corner needed an architectural surprise rather than a beautiful picture.
Sometimes in moments like this, I have my own epiphanies of things I already knew. Like I knew sconces and mirrors were amazing alternatives to art, but my mind forgot that was an option. It’s like mixing patterns or mixing metals…varieties add layers to a room and wall space is just the same. So in the rare chance that one of you is struggling to find yet another piece of art in a room filled with art…try something different…something unexpected.

P.S. Now that we’ve moved onto our laundry room project, I’ve got my eye on a couple of the wired sconces for the big open wall…I just need to get the all clear from Chris!
