Dear Danica, What Should I Replace Our Built In Desk With?

Congratulations! You have what so many people wish they had – a moment of charm and character in your bedroom. So often, bedrooms are just square rooms with absolutely no architectural details. But you have the bones of uniqueness with an opportunity to add character.

So you’re not into the vanity desk. No problem! You want a window seat instead but you’re concerned it might look off with the window placement being higher…which is valid. I don’t think a window seat is out of the question, and it could look really cute! But, let me propose a different idea that’s a little less expected and perhaps more practical.

Built In Dresser

I propose creating a built in dresser where the desk currently is. It would utilize the space better and provide additional storage. If you’re handy, you could build it from scratch or retrofit Ikea cabinets with custom drawer fronts. Deema of Pretty On Fridays bought a dresser, built it into her existing space, and painted everything the same color which saved her the hassle of building the dresser. The result looks completely custom!
