Any additional thoughts on these fronts after another couple years? Have two kids and concerned about prints/etc, but love the matte look.

    • Danica says:

We’re 4 years in and no scratches yet! Greasy fingerprints do show on these matte black cabinets however so that’s something to consider.

Do you have a post specifically about your island? We are planning our Ikea kitchen, and I want to "enclose" the end caps of the seating area similar to how yours is. Did you just extend your cover panels out or did you build it out and cover it with the panels? It’s hard to tell from the photo. Thank you!

    • Danica says:

I haven’t shared much about our island, but yes we just extended the cover panels out further than the cabinets and then wrapped the inside with wood where the stools tuck under.

  3. Danica says:

    Absolutely! 🙂

Since you opted for the brown cabinet boxes, is the brown visible from the outside? For ex: underneath the upper cabinets?

    • Danica says:

The brown boxes are only visible inside the cabinets and underneath the uppers. We covered all other areas with a panel that matches the cabinet fronts!

Oh wow! This is so insightful! Thank you!I am planning my kitchen and I think I will go with the Ikea option, specially after reading this! One question though, was it tough to install the worktop? Are they from Ikea too?Thank you for sharing your experience!! xx

    • Danica says:

I’m so glad it was helpful! We ordered our countertops from Home Depot and had them installed through a contractor so that was the easiest part! 😉

I recently purchased a home with ikea cabinets. Th previous tenets kicked in a few cabinets and I’m trying to replace the cabinet doors. They are from at least 5 years ago and are walnut with stainless pulls. How do I find out if they are still available?
