I told Chris yesterday that one of my absolute favorite things to do after wrapping up a project is to deep clean the house! I didn’t expect our bedroom renovation to cause such a disturbance to the rest of our home and keeping things tidy, let alone taking photos for the blog, is nearly impossible when ALL our bedroom furniture and mattress are scattered throughout the main floor. That being said, I *think* we’re a couple weeks away from being able to move back into the bedroom (sans decor of course) and I can’t tell you how ready we are for that day! Cross your fingers with us will ya!?
We finished insulating, wiring, installing the wood tongue and groove on the ceiling, and we started installing the nickel gap planks on the walls. This week’s tasks include: finish installing the nickel gap planks, trim out the windows, start laying floors, and wrap the “beam”.
I’ve been saving beam photos from Instagram for inspiration and one thing has become undeniably clear to me – I love a drywalled beam painted the same color as the ceiling. Seemingly unexciting I know, but something about the juxtaposition of a smooth and clean beam next to wood textured ceilings is so striking to me. It’s the same reason I chose smooth MDF for the walls and solid wood for the ceiling. Even if they’re painted the same color, the texture shift is so beautiful. But in case you need more convincing…I know you’ve seen these stunning homes before!

Other notable things –
Chris read Matthew McConaughey’s new book “Greenlights” in 3 days and couldn’t stop raving about it. I can only image how good the audiobook is with Matthew McConaughey’s voice!
This is the definition an apartment glow up with just paint, furniture, and box trim. I’m SHOOK!!
Apparently everyone fell in love with these $40 sneakers cause they sold out quick after I bought a pair. I can vouch for how comfy they are! (Sign up for the restock alert!)
I keep raving about these faux hydrangeas because they’re so pretty and such a good price. Love that the petals are a soft cream color which makes them look all the more realistic. PS get 20% off with code “20MADEBYYOU”
Am I the last person on earth to start watching The Crown on Netflix? Why did it take me this long!? And can I please get some clarity on what’s fact vs fiction….I’m hooked!
It was love at first site with this Casaluna linen blend quilt in “natural” and let me tell you, the online photos do not do it justice. Chris and I now have 6 comforters and just 1 bed, but we made a vow to bring that down to 2. Turns out we have a collection addiction we didn’t even know about!
Should I get these sheets to go with the quilt? Or these might be fun with a subtle monochromatic vibe… Any other great sheet recommendations I should know about!?
