I told Chris yesterday that one of my absolute favorite things to do after wrapping up a project is to deep clean the house! I didn’t expect our bedroom renovation to cause such a disturbance to the rest of our home and keeping things tidy, let alone taking photos for the blog, is nearly impossible when ALL our bedroom furniture and mattress are scattered throughout the main floor. That being said, I *think* we’re a couple weeks away from being able to move back into the bedroom (sans decor of course) and I can’t tell you how ready we are for that day! Cross your fingers with us will ya!?
We finished insulating, wiring, installing the wood tongue and groove on the ceiling, and we started installing the nickel gap planks on the walls. This week’s tasks include: finish installing the nickel gap planks, trim out the windows, start laying floors, and wrap the “beam”.
I’ve been saving beam photos from Instagram for inspiration and one thing has become undeniably clear to me – I love a drywalled beam painted the same color as the ceiling. Seemingly unexciting I know, but something about the juxtaposition of a smooth and clean beam next to wood textured ceilings is so striking to me. It’s the same reason I chose smooth MDF for the walls and solid wood for the ceiling. Even if they’re painted the same color, the texture shift is so beautiful. But in case you need more convincing…I know you’ve seen these stunning homes before!
