Omg omg omggggg….siding installation started last week and I can’t handle the excitement! My brother (a licensed contractor) was here all last week helping us install the board and batten and although it’s not painted yet, we LOVE the style that it adds to our exterior! It took a bit of troubleshooting to figure out how to install the b+b because not a single part of our home is level…not joking! But we got a ton done in the week that my brother was here, we learned SO much about how to install it properly, and Chris and I feel fully capable of installing the siding on the rest of the house all by ourselves.
The window trim is for sure my favorite part! Our windows aren’t fancy by any means so a unique window trim with a little sill felt like a great way to add interest to what would otherwise be a fairly basic feature. Thanks for the window trim inspo Jenni Yolo! And what are all the white lines you ask? We had to caulk every seam and every nail that sunk into the wood so yaaa….our fingers are raw. 🙂
What’s next? We have about half of the house left to install b+b on so Chris and I are taking work off next week to finish that. We’re gonna need you to send us all the positive vibes to help us get it done. Thank goodness it looks like the temperature will be in the mid 60’s all week so we feel #blessed. And then…PAINT!!! I suppose we should start looking at paint samples soon huh!?

The nail gun we didn’t even know we needed. We used it to install siding but we can already think of so many other projects we will use it for.

I downloaded this beautiful free tree drawing from the Smithsonian and it fits perfectly in our kitchen! I’m such a sucker for antique drawings.
