Perhaps the #1 most popular design trend of 2020 and 2021 is old world pottery. And the #2 most popular trend is making your own! Bloggers and design enthusiasts everywhere have been practicing and perfecting the art of a faux distressed pottery finish and I can confidently say that I think we’ve nailed it!

I’ve seen countless incredibly realistic “aged” vases, textured lamps, and weathered terra cotta pots. And I noticed that a lot of the techniques are super similar, but subtle changes in material, color, or even the order in which you do things can drastically change the end result. So today we’re gonna learn from the bloggers who nailed the faux old world look.

Old World Pottery

The Dirt Treatment

From what I understand, Jaci was the first to come up with the “dirt treatment” which is THE easiest (and most popular) found pottery method you can do!
