I have been dreaming of what our front porch will look like for months! We just finished the “phase 1” part of our exterior renovation and although we don’t have a railing yet, updated stairs, a new walkway, or landscaping…I’m loving how cozy and inviting our porch is turning out to be.
We love to sit outside in the evenings so tracking down two comfy chairs was first on our list. I kept it neutral because at the time of purchasing them, we didn’t know what color our house would be. An ivory cushion felt like a safe and timeless choice.
I made my own throw pillows because I had a pretty specific look in mind and with all the solid colors happening, this corner needed a little pattern. (Full tutorial for my DIY pillow covers here.)
Our lantern is a perfect blend of modern and traditional and I love the two light look with candelabra bulbs! We bought three for around the house and they came black but I painted them antique brass for a pop of color.
Of course we installed our wood door years ago and it still looks just as beautiful today! I’ll never get tired of a pretty windowpane moment. The dark siding color is making the door look very orange so I suspect we’ll be restaining it in the spring to look a little more muted. Perhaps a dark stain or maybe bleaching it to make it lighter…
We chatted about my little collection of pots and plants a couple weeks ago and I think every porch needs some greenery to feel fresh and inviting. A couple evergreen plants paired with aged outdoor pots is exactly what that corner needed.
I don’t want to admit how long it took me to find the perfect layered rug combination for our entryway. Rugs are always the hardest part for me to decide on and apparently doormats are no exception. After searching the internet for 2 days, I happened to find 3 perfect outdoor rugs and a coir doormat during a quick Target run. Of course right?
One neutral rug for summer, a black and white checkered rug for fall, a red checkered rug for Christmas, and the perfect thick coir doormat all from the Studio McGee x Threshold collection!
During my search for the perfect layered rug combo I learned a couple things –
I love a thicker coir doormat! They’re super substantial and look high end. A 1” thick doormat without a rubber backing is my preference.
You gotta pay attention to doormat vs rug sizes. There are two standard doormat sizes – 18”x30” (most common) and 24”x36”. The standard sizes for the bottom entry rugs are usually 2’x3’ and 3’x5’. So I prefer to pair the sizes below –

Hi there
I love the colour of that you painted your house. Can you share what colour and brand it is.
Thank you ❤️
Hi Sarah, it’s Muddled Basil from HGTV Home by Sherwin Williams!
Do you know the stain color of your front door?
Can you please tell me the exterior paint color of your house? I love it!
Hi! Beautiful and lovely cozy vibe! Wondering what the hardware is for your front door? Love that look! Do you have a link? Thanks 🙂

What is the finish on the wood door?
The stain color is "puritan pine" by Minwax and the top coat is Helmsman Spar Urethane.
I’m wondering about your siding. Does it have a specific name? I’m wanting the vertical look and am having troubles finding it. Everyone Kees telling me that it’s individual wooden pieces. Is that true or can you get it in sheets? Thanks so much! Melanie
Hi Melanie, our siding is board & batten. I shared all the details on our siding and the materials we used in this post – nadinestay.com/blog/all-the-details-on-our-siding
What is the exterior color? Thanks so much.
It’s called Subterranean from HGTV HOME by Sherwin Williams
What is the other plant in your pot? I know one is an inkberry but I’m curious if the other?
Ah, that is just a bundle of evergreen clippings tucked in a pot! 🙂
