“Where’d you buy your ____ from?” I get this question often on Instagram and truth be told I shop from the same 10 stores most of the time!
This is typically the first place I check when I’m looking for modern furniture. Fun fact – Wayfair, AllModern, Joss & Main, and Birch Lane are all owned by the same company so they carry a lot of the same pieces. I shop from all these places, but AllModern tends to categorize modern furniture better than the other sites so I typically start my search here.
If I don’t see anything that sparks my interest on AllModern or Wayfair, I check overstock. Typically I look at Overstock for furniture or rugs.
Speaking of rugs, Urban Outfitters has the best flatweave rugs and most of them are super reasonably priced. They recently started carrying larger rugs (they used to only carry 5×7 rugs or smaller) so I’ve been keeping an eye out for something for our living room.
They’re known for their clothing, but H&M actually has some really beautiful home products. They don’t have a ton of inventory but everything they carry is affordable and current! I love their textiles (specifically their pillows) and have heard great things about their kitchen goods as well.
I only have a couple pieces from West Elm because $$$, but I love how unique all their products are. I’ve purchased furniture and rugs from West Elm and have been happy with both!
Admittedly I haven’t purchased anything from CB2 (YET) but I drool over their website on a regular basis. They carry unique products that aren’t what you would typically see in a big box store or major chain website. They’re a sister company to Crate & Barrel but at half the cost. Definitely worth browsing through their site!
Once again, I haven’t actually purchased anything from this online shop, but Rugs USA has one of the largest inventories of rugs in the US. I’d be doing you a disservice by not introducing you to Rugs USA.
They don’t have products listed online, but I visit our local Home Goods store on a regular basis. I like this place because I can often find pieces that aren’t as popular or widely used (unlike Target for example). I go to Home Goods for artwork and lamps mainly, but I’ve also found some comfy throw blankets at incredibly good prices!
Shockingly I don’t shop for home decor at Target as much as I used to, but I do find a lot of pretty pillows in their aisles. Pillows, vases, and frames are their three gold mines in my opinion.
I frequent my local thrift store as often as I can before it starts to look like I’m stalking the store. I almost always find funky pieces or earthenware pottery that can’t be found elsewhere. If I’m looking for vases or a unique dish set, I go to my local thrift stores first. (PS if you find a vase that has a unique shape but the color is atrocious, don’t be afraid to repaint it. Read how I do that here.)
