Assuming the heat registers are there to stay, I’d do a combination of things. I’d find a quality roman shade that serves as your privacy. There’s woven wood, bamboo, cloth, and you can even get them lined for extra privacy. (I’ve heard great things about Blinds.com so you can start your search there!) Then I would hang two floor-to-ceiling curtain panels on either end of the window that would essentially be stationary. (i.e. you wouldn’t open and close the curtains and thus your heater wouldn’t be covered.) With both these window treatments, you have the privacy you need from the shades as well as the dramatic statement that comes with floor-to-ceiling curtains. Win Win!
Would you have a recommendation for how to work with registers above the windows? I have one at each end of the window, about where I would hang the curtain rod. Thanks!
I have this same issue although I have a row of 5 windows that span 12 feet and a baseboard register at the end of each side and I’m clueless!
If the curtains would cover the registers on either side, then I say scratch the curtains and just go with roman shades instead!
Thank you!!
