We have a window with 2 baseboard heat registers beneath it. The problem with floor to ceiling curtains would be that they would cover up the registers and the heat would just go behind the curtains. What do you suggest?
Assuming the heat registers are there to stay, I’d do a combination of things. I’d find a quality roman shade that serves as your privacy. There’s woven wood, bamboo, cloth, and you can even get them lined for extra privacy. (I’ve heard great things about Blinds.com so you can start your search there!) Then I would hang two floor-to-ceiling curtain panels on either end of the window that would essentially be stationary. (i.e. you wouldn’t open and close the curtains and thus your heater wouldn’t be covered.) With both these window treatments, you have the privacy you need from the shades as well as the dramatic statement that comes with floor-to-ceiling curtains. Win Win!
