PICKING THE RIGHT HOME OFFICE DESK CHAIR + 15 OF MY FAVORITES

Welcome to the room of our home where I spend 8 hours a day! Cozy isn’t it? Installing the wood slat wainscoting was a labor of love, repainting our desk 4 times was a *fun* little adventure, and finding the right desk chair took hours of research.

With the increasing need for a home office right now, dining tables are being turned into office desks and the unused corners of bedrooms are getting converted into makeshift home offices. Finding the right office chair that still looks beautiful is needed now more than ever!

A chair with wheels was an absolute necessity for me, but perhaps a more stationary task chair would suit you just fine. Maybe a medium height back is needed so it doesn’t tower over the small space where it sits or maybe a tall back is essential for added support and comfort. Do you sit with your arms on your desk or rest them on your chair? Because an armrest (or lack there of) can cause quite the discomfort if it’s not what you’re used to. Do you need the chair to tuck under the desk when it’s not in use? An armrest that measures lower than your desk will be necessary.

Do you swivel to better position yourself frequently or do you sit still most of the time? If you plan on sitting in this chair for 8 hours at a time, a plush cushion is what will get you through the day. Or perhaps you like to stand most and just sit periodically. A lower profile cushion will do you just fine and an added pillow under your bum will suffice if you start to get uncomfortable!

And we haven’t even begun to discuss style preferences, fabric or leather? Channel seams or tufted with buttons? Will chrome, bronze, brass, or black wheels fit with the other metals in your home? Casual or chic? So many questions to answer to find your perfect desk chair.

(P.S. we have #12 in brown! It’s a beautiful faux leather chair with channel tufted seams and priced very reasonably. As far as comfort goes, I recommend adding a pillow to sit on if you plan on working in it for a full day.)
